ChatGrab Privacy Policy
Effective November 9, 2026
ChatGrab does not collect, store or sell your conversations or personal data. Everything you export is processed inside your own browser.
What ChatGrab does
ChatGrab exports the conversation you have open on ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini into Markdown, PDF, HTML or JSON. It reads the page only when you open the extension and choose to export.
Your conversations
- Conversation content is read from the open tab and converted locally in your browser.
- It is never sent to us or to any third party.
- Exported files are saved to your device or copied to your clipboard. We never see them.
Data stored on your device
ChatGrab uses the browser's local extension storage for:
- your Pro license key, if you activate one;
- a counter of today's free exports;
- a temporary copy of a conversation while the PDF view is open, deleted right after it loads.
This data stays on your device. Removing the extension deletes it.
License key validation
If you buy ChatGrab Pro, your license key is sent to our payment provider Polar (api.polar.sh) to check that it is valid, when you activate it and about once a week after that. Only the key is sent, never your conversations. Purchases are handled by Polar under Polar's privacy policy.
What we don't do
- No analytics, tracking or advertising.
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone.
- No remote code. All code ships inside the extension.
Permissions
- Access to chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, claude.ai and gemini.google.com: to read the conversation you choose to export.
- Scripting: to read conversations in tabs that were open before ChatGrab was installed.
- Storage: for the local data listed above.
